This page says what this shop collects about you, why, and who else sees it. The short version: I collect what I need to fill your order, and I don’t sell any of it.
Who I am
This shop, shop.portermason.com, is run by me, Porter Mason. If you have a question about your information, email me at shop@portermason.com.
What I collect
When you place an order, I get:
- Your name and email address, and your phone number if you give it.
- Your billing address, and your shipping address if you’re buying something physical.
- What you ordered and when, plus any note you add to the order.
- Your IP address and the type of browser you used, which the store software records with each order.
I never see your full card number. Stripe handles it (more on that below).
How I use it
- To fill your order, and to send your receipt, your PDF links and any shipping updates.
- To answer you if you write to me.
- To handle refunds, returns and problems with an order.
- To stop fraud.
- To keep the records I need for taxes.
I don’t have a mailing list that this shop adds you to. If you buy something here, you’ll get emails about that order. That’s it.
Who else sees it
A few companies help run the shop, and each one sees only what it needs:
- Stripe takes your payment. It collects your card details directly and uses your information to process the payment and catch fraud. Its privacy policy is at stripe.com/privacy.
- DreamHost hosts this website, so your order is stored on its servers.
- Pirate Ship is where I buy shipping labels, so it gets your name and shipping address. Its privacy policy is at ship.pirateship.com/privacy.
- Shipping carriers such as the U.S. Postal Service get your name and shipping address too.
- The person who does my taxes may see sales records.
I may also share information if the law requires it. I don’t sell your information, and I don’t share it for anyone’s advertising.
Cookies
Cookies are small files your browser keeps. This shop uses them to remember what’s in your cart and to keep checkout working. Stripe also uses cookies at checkout to help detect fraud. There are no advertising cookies here.
Analytics
I use Google Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they look at. It uses cookies to collect things like the pages you view, your device and browser, and your general location. It also records sales, meaning what was bought and for how much, so I can see what’s working. It doesn’t get your name, your email, your address or your card. If you’d rather not be counted, Google has a browser add-on that opts you out. Google’s own privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
How long I keep it
I keep order records for as long as I need them for taxes and accounting, generally seven years. If you ever need your PDFs again, those records are also how I find them.
Your choices
Wherever you live, you can ask me to show you what I have about you, correct it or delete it. Email me at shop@portermason.com. I’ll have to keep what the law requires, like tax records, but I’ll tell you what that is. Depending on where you live, you may have other rights under privacy laws too, and you can use them the same way.
Kids
Plenty of what’s in this shop is for kids, but the shop itself is for the grown-ups buying it. I don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has placed an order here, email me and I’ll delete what I can.
Changes
If this page changes, I’ll update the date at the top. If the change is a big one, I’ll say so here.
