Bassist Wanted is a comic strip about the Ambulance Men, a scrappy but terrible local band, and Jumpstart Malady, the most successful rock band in twenty years, which their old bassist quit to start.
This is both books as PDFs: All Local Bands Suck (Except Ours), the first 150 strips, and Jingles Are the New Punk, the next 168. The strip ran in alternative weekly papers from Buffalo to Los Angeles, right next to the music listings, from 2005 until the entire newspaper industry imploded. (Not that I’m bitter.)
Each PDF is the whole book, page for page, black and white, to read on a screen or print at home.
PG-13: some language and mature themes, so adults should read through them first before handing them to a kid.
